ACCOMMODATIONS:

EXCURSIONS:

Golden Circle and Snowmobile Drive

One-day tour of the Golden Circle’s main sights and a snowmobile ride on Langjökull glacier. We’ll have multiple stops along the way, including the Almannagjá gorge, which marks the eastern boundary on the North American Plate, and the waterfall Öxarárfoss. We’ll also see Haukadalur valley, the most known geothermal area in Iceland and home of many geysers, including the very active Stokkur which goes off every 6-10 minutes and reaches more than 60 feet high. We’ll stop at Gullfoss waterfall, the most famous waterfall in Iceland, and then head to the Langjökull, the second largest glacier in Iceland, for the snowmobile part of the tour. Under Langjökull there are two or more volcanic systems. The area of the glacier includes some mountains, including Mt. Skriðufell and Jarlhettur (“The earl’s hat”), where we will have incredible photo opportunities.

Ultimate Iceland South Coast

One-day tour of Iceland’s south coast, where we’ll go on a glacier hike. We’ll visit Seljalandsfoss, a stunning waterfall that drops nearly 200 feet and originates from the Eyjafjallajökull glacier. We’ll even go behind the waterfall for a unique view. Then we’re off to Skógarfoss, one of the country’s biggest waterfalls at more than 80 feet wide. We wrap the tour with a drive to the magical black sand beaches on the coast.

Lava Tunnel Exploration

We journey into Raufarhólshellir to witness the inner workings of a volcanic eruption as we walk in the path of lava that flowed during the Leitahraun eruption, which occurred east of the Bláfjöll mountains about 5200 years ago. Every winter spectacular ice sculptures are formed inside the entrance of the cave making the experience of visiting the lava tunnel even more breathtaking.

The Northern Lights

We can’t promise it, but the Northern Lights are still a real possibility at the end of April, especially when you have a remote area like our base at ION Adventure Hotel. We’ll be on the lookout for them every night during our visit and even have an app to help monitor them and will give those who request it a wakeup call if we get an alert.
